The Norse News Network, or N3 as it is commonly called, is a weekly
electronic newsletter designed to give NKU students the scoop!  Within
this newsletter you will find info about campus and community
activities, university wide announcements and job opportunities.  The

UP 'TIL DAWN FINALE EVENT ANNOUNCED

 

Attention Up 'til Dawn Stick-n-Seal participants ... we thank you for
assisting with the over $12,000 we have raised for St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital!  Looking for something fun to do?  We invite you to
the Up 'til Dawn finale event on March 24th at Sports of All Sorts in
Florence from 11pm - 1am.  Not only will it be fun, but it's also free!
There will be free food and free games, which includes pool tables,
soccer and basketball.  We'll also recognize individuals and teams for

2006 SPRING ELECTION PACKETS

AVAILABLE MARCH 15th

 

Student Government Association (SGA) 2006 spring election packets will
be available on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:00am for students who
want to run on a ballot for the following positions:

*        President (2.5 minimum GPA required for all executive
positions)

*        Executive Vice President

   (President and Executive Vice President may run on a slate)

*        Vice President of Public Relations

*        Vice President of Student Involvement

*        Vice President of Administration

*        Senator (15 positions available - 2.0 minimum GPA required)

*        Judicial Council (3 positions available - 2.0 minimum GPA
required)

 

Election packets are available outside the SGA Office (UC 208) or in the
Dean of Students Office (UC 346).  Election packets must be completed
and returned to the Dean of Students Office by Monday, April 3, 2006 at
10:00am.  Student government Association elections will be held on
Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday April 13, 2006.  SGA meetings are held
on every Monday afternoon during the fall and spring semesters starting
at 3:30pm in University Center, room 11.  Candidates must be able to
attend the SGA meetings on a regular basis.  Additional information
concerning the SGA can be obtained by contacting their office at

You Can Help Katrina Victims!

 

On Saturday, April 1 YOU can help the victims!  The Eastside Christian
Church in Milford, OH is hosting an event called HELP BUILD HOPE.  At
this event, they are looking to recruit 1,200 volunteers from the
Greater Cincinnati Area to work and help frame 20 homes.  After the
frames are constructed, they will be delivered to the Gulf Coast and
given to Hurricane Katrina victims.  There are still thousands of
homeless people in the Gulf Coast region.

 

How can you help?

As a volunteer, you and your friends can participate in one or more of
the building sessions (no experience needed) on Saturday, April 1st:
The times are:

*	8 am- 12 pm
*	1 pm- 5 pm
*	6 pm- 10 pm

to volunteer.  All volunteers will receive an NKU shirt for
participating, so please submit your t-shirt size and shift.  This event

How is Your Resume?

 

The March Talk on Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, March 21 in UC 11
at 12:15.  This month's topic is Resume Building.  Kat Yankowski of the
NKU Career Development Center will facilitate the session.  Come and
learn how to make your resume stand out!  The Leadership Task Force will
provide lunch to everyone who attends the event.  Interested?  Please

WANTED: Creative Writing

 

LaLink (Literature and Language Club) is holding its annual creative
writing contest.  Please submit either poetry or fiction writing to
Prof. Andy Miller, LA 522; each entry should be accompanied by a cover
letter and names should appear only on the cover letter, not on the
manuscript.  Cash prizes will be awarded of $50, $25 and $10 for 1st,
2nd and 3rd place in each category.  Any questions - please contact

Changers in Morehead, KY to build 2 Habitat for Humanity Houses over the

Attention: International Students!!

 

Have you been dying to share information about your origin with others??
Now is your chance!!  Go with NKU Housing RAs to Grant's Lick Elementary
School for their multicultural fair.  This is an area that is very rural
and without a lot of diversity.  Bring your culture to these students by
answering their questions (no presentation needed.)  Volunteers are
welcomed to bring artifacts from their culture. (i.e. music, posters,
clothing, etc.)  This counts as community service hours!!  Please

30-hour Hunger Campaign

Association of African Charities

AAC will hold its 4th annual 30-hour hunger campaign at Northern
Kentucky University (NKU) dubbed "Technology Against Hunger". AAC
members/participants will fast for 30 hours beginning 1pm March 17 to
7pm March 18 to symbolize the effects of hunger with the hope of raising
money to ship over 100 acquired computers and books to Zimbabwe
(Chiredzi All Learning Center) and 200 pounds of medical supplies from
Supplies Over Seas (a humanitarian aid program of the Medical Foundation
of the Jefferson County Medical Society) to Kenya (Bahati dispensary).
Our goal is to raise $7,500 with the collaboration of strong and willing
supporters like you and AAC.  In the past, funds raised were used to
prevent Twafwane orphanage from closing down due food and medicine, to
dig a well in Chakondora village, Zambia where people had to walk
15miles to get water. Funds were also used to pay for the upkeep of over
70 children at OOEIM orphanage in Elmina, Ghana.  If you are interested

Inner tube Water Polo League

 

Lookin' for a new sport that is hilarious?  Come and try the new
Intramural Inner tube Water Polo League.  Teams consist of 7 players
(goalie included) and no experience is necessary!.  Registration

College Nite at the CSO is March 4 - Party with Paavo

 

The FINAL College Nite of the season is next Saturday, starting at 8 pm
in Music Hall.

Paavo Jarvi conducts the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, featuring the
fantastic Tetzlaff siblings in Brahms's Double concerto for violin and
cello, and Schumann's Symphony No. 3, "Rhenish".  After the concert, the
party begins in Corbett Tower with live entertainment from iZUMBA!, free
food, cash bar, prizes, and the all-important chance to meet other
college students, along with CSO orchestra musicians, Paavo, and the
Tetzlaffs.  College Nite is $10, including concert and party. Don't
forget you can get $10 student tickets to any CSO Music Hall concert,
